Job Description

Coordinate efforts in implementing safety oversight activities at multiple projects and locations.  The candidate shall have an expertise in DOE Order 450.2 Integrated Safety Management, DOE Order 151.1D Comprehensive Emergency Management System, DOE O 458.1 Radiation Protection of the Public and Environment, DOE Order 231.1B Environmental Safety and Health Reporting, and other DOE orders related to the safe execution of DOE work.  The candidate shall provide this technical expertise in support of safety oversight initiatives, implementation of ISM, and support of the DOE oversight issues and activities that include, but are not limited to the following:

• Providing technical engineering and safety expertise on oversight activities;
• Identifying, tracking, and analyzing key information related to contractor safety performance;
• Reviewing documents related to contractor safety programs such as; Worker Health and Safety programs;Hazards Analysis (including radiological protection, industrial hazards, and other),work control and execution documents, training programs, Operating experience and lessons learned;and any additional safety management program support as required; and
• Technical field oversight of safety programs as listed above including conducting assessments, reporting, event notifications, corrective action plan reviews and lessons learned preparation.

Job Requirements

Ph.D. Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Science, or Civil Engineering Technology related to Construction. Selection to peer review panels, fellow in a national society, recipient of national or international prizes or awards, or significant patents and rights in a field. History of service to DOE in the areas of Software Quality Assurance, Suspect Counterfeit Items, Quality

Assurance, Nuclear Safety, Emergency Management or Radiation Protection.

Thirty years or more of directly attributable experience related environmental remediation, decommissioning, demolition, and construction in specialized technical field, and is acknowledged as a Senior Engineer in the specific area in question.

Preferred

Qualification as a DOE Facility Representative desirable.

This position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance. This position may require reviews and test for absence of any illegal drugs along with a background investigation by the Federal government in order to obtain an access authorization prior to employment, and may require subsequent reinvestigations may be required.
