Job Description

Duties to include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing hazardous and radiological protection program implementation oversight support to the facility’s DOE Line Manager in the management of DOE’s contracts.
  • Provide field oversight, information, support, and advice to DOE with respect to the safe implementation of decontamination and decommissioning activities for contaminated facilities at the small sites and SLA projects.
  • Review of demolition activities, design documents, construction drawings, work packages, work plans, radiological surveys, procedures, permits, and regulatory documentation.
  • Assisting DOE in day-to-day field verification of safe and compliant radiological protection program implementation.
  • Assisting DOE with oversight of Hazardous and Radioactive waste generation, packaging and removal and Coordination of waste shipments for disposal via various transportation modes such as truck and railroad.
  • Prepare and present Reports and briefings as required.
  • Participate in periodic required training.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Science, or Civil Engineering Technology degree related to construction.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in characterization activities including sampling, sampling methods, EPA requirements related to RCRA and CERCLA, DOT requirements for transportation of radioactive and hazardous materials.
  • Certification in hazardous materials transportation required.
  • Must possess an excellent understanding of technical issues and be able to communicate them effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to draft professional quality correspondence, reports, briefings, and other communications.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively before groups of senior-level customers in the DOE and within the company.
  • Must be able to successfully perform advanced mathematical functions as required.
  • Must have demonstrable fluency with computers, software, and general office equipment.
  • Must possess problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to multitask, prioritize daily work schedule so that production goals are met, and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Must be able to perform medium work involving climbing, walking, and visual inspection and tolerate exposure to environmental conditions while performing assessments or field operations.

Federal Government Clearance:

This position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance. This position may require reviews and test for absence of any illegal drugs along with a background investigation by the Federal government in order to obtain an access authorization prior to employment, and may require subsequent reinvestigations may be required.
