Job Description

Perform technical assessments/reviews in accordance with the Savannah River PMO Conduct of Assessment and Management Procedure. These reviews will include Formal Project Design Reviews at Critical Decision points per DOE O 413.3B, as well as day-to-day reviews of individual project deliverables, technical drawings, specifications, and calculations.

Perform reviews of contractor documents including but not limited to planning, management, technology development, engineering, construction, procurement, and start-up management plans; full range of design, construction, procurement, and start-up execution documents to assess accuracy and completeness.

Provide technical support for the management and coordination of projects by reviewing and analyzing technical/scientific and programmatic issues, activities, and making recommendations regarding the activities to the Federal Project Director.

Support major periodic design reviews and perform extensive evaluations of design packages for technical adequacy, integration, and maturity.

Perform detailed review of contractor engineering deliverables including but not limited to design system, processes, procedures, design criteria, drawings, calculations, and specifications.



Job Requirements

  • Must possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a directly related degree.
  • Must have at least 15 years of experience working on large complex nuclear projects (greater than $100M), with multi-discipline integration.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to develop mechanical design calculations, drawings, specifications, and requirements for one or more of the following; engineered equipment, piping, and gloveboxes. A minimum of 5 years of design experience on a DOE PC-3/SDC-3 (DOE-STD-1020) Facility or equivalent commercial nuclear facility is required.
  • Must demonstrate working level knowledge of DOE Orders and Standards, ASME codes and standards for vessels and piping.



  • Design, Construction, Startup, or Operations experience in a Uranium or Plutonium facility is a plus.
  • Experience at the Savannah River Site is a plus.
  • A Professional Engineer License is a plus.

This position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance. This position may require reviews and test for absence of any illegal drugs along with a background investigation by the Federal government in order to obtain an access authorization prior to employment, and may require subsequent reinvestigations may be required.
