Job Description

Working under no supervision is responsible for project and business management of a project including contractual requirements, development and coordination of schedules and budgets, management of direct and support staff, procurement of materials, etc. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • With no supervision, handles all types of mid to large-scale projects (projects typically more than $250,000 in scope). 
  • Responsible for efficient business management and administrative direction of the project (including AE contractual commitments if required), coordination of schedules and budgets and support staff including subcontractors.  Ensures all billing and accounting procedures are appropriate,
  • Develops and coordinates schedules, budgets, subcontractors, etc. as needed.  Ensures project has obtained approvals, permits, etc. as required by federal, state, and/or local regulations and codes and is conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Review and approve all cost estimates, schedule changes, etc.
  • Prepares and coordinates periodic reports, studies, presentations, etc. and presents as needed.
  • Advises client of any scope changes, schedule changes, additional charges, etc. as needed.  Conducts final inspection and wrap up with client of project.
  • Supervises work efforts of project personnel.  Handles personnel issues as required.  Coordinates subcontractor work, etc.
  • Demonstrates ability to get along with coworkers, customers and visitors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Job Requirements

Position requires Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar. 

10-15 years of previous project management, engineering or cost engineering experience.

Must have experience professionally interacting and interfacing with USACE

Previous experience working with Department of Energy projects or programs

Able to read and interpret documents, engineering drawings etc. 

Able to write routing and non-routine reports and correspondence. 

Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Able to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Able to interpret a variety of instructions that deal with abstract and concrete

variables.

 

Desired experience

Project Management Professional certification (PMP)

Advanced Degree MS, MA, MBA highly desirable

Experience in Cost Engineering

Experience with Primavera P6

Federal Government Clearance:

This position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance. This position may require reviews and test for absence of any illegal drugs along with a background investigation by the Federal government in order to obtain an access authorization prior to employment, and may require subsequent reinvestigations may be required.
