Job Description

Provide in-depth review and/or develop Federal Risk Registers, conduct Monte Carlo analysis, and perform other risk management functions.

Provide analysis of plans, specifications, and drawings.

Provide responsive analysis to support the accounting, budgeting services, purchasing, administrative services, and program management team. 

Provide support to the DOE Federal Cleanup Directors and their integrated project teams for the development, review, and revision of risk assessment reports and the monitoring of contractor and cost and schedule reserve/contingency.

Provide oversight of risk management programs including assessments and document reviews. 

Develop and obtain EM-LA approval for Risk Management documents.

Participate in the risk management assessments, attend brainstorming sessions, and review/update the risk registers and site risk management plans as required.

Maintain the Environmental Liability for the environmental program lifecycle.

Review, analyze, and update all federal project related program risks to derive EM contingency amounts at the 80% confidence level for execution of Capital Asset Projects.

Provide oversight of the contractor risk management system.

Environmental Liability

Provide effective management and control over the EM-LA Environmental Liabilities function analyzing program and projects costs and assessing risk versus benefits associated with alternative courses of action relative to environmental management activities at EM-LA.

Provide strategic planning, integration, coordination, and policy direction for environmental cleanup planning and budget, including creating the basis of estimate for the assumptions of waste disposition and disposal.

Maintains internal controls for EM-LA, develop EM-LA Note 3’s, and coordinate and update EM-LA narrative for submittal.

Support internal and external audits by responding to audit findings issued to EM-LA and prepare lessons learned for any audit findings. 

Performs reviews of the EM-LA risk management plan contingency to identify significant differences and potential errors.


Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in related field

15-20 years’ project management experience with focus on risk analysis and mitigation and environmental liability or related field

Related work experience may be substituted for education requirements



Project Management Institute Project Management Professional Certification

DOE environmental remediation project management experience

Knowledge of DOE O 413.3B

Federal Government Clearance:

This position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance. This position may require reviews and test for absence of any illegal drugs along with a background investigation by the Federal government in order to obtain an access authorization prior to employment, and may require subsequent reinvestigations may be required.
