Job Description


Job Summary

The selected candidate will be responsible as a Maintenance Supervisor II and must be able to work under limited supervision, performs maintenance execution job functions as directed by Management.  Typical job responsibilities including assisting and supporting management of the client’s site maintenance execution management process which reflects appropriate priorities and is consistent with applicable regulatory requirements and established client procedures. The specific work assignments may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to the other duties as assigned.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities



Supervise hourly employees in assigned crews within the maintenance group.




Maintain certification and training to perform assigned supervisor functions.

Maintain current knowledge of all safety policies & procedures, take responsibility for the safety of supervised personnel and ensure their compliance with all applicable safety policies & procedures and practice safe work habits.

Develop and enhance safety culture, making safety a natural part of all work performed on the project.

Maintain current knowledge of all safety policies and procedures, take responsibility for their own safety and the safety of supervised personnel ensuring compliance with all applicable safety policies & procedures, and practice safe work habits.

Supervisors must ensure that employees are empowered, recommend safe work practices and report any safety concerns to management.

Manage all assigned responsibilities and personnel in a manner which ensures full compliance with contractual, legal and regulatory requirements and adheres to all policies and procedures.

Ensure that supervised personnel are properly trained in the performance of assigned job functions.

Ensure that supervised personnel hold and maintain the proper clearance levels, licenses and certifications required to perform all assigned job duties.

Monitor safety, progress, cost performance, work environment and related issues; communicate to management any items that may substantially impact operations.

Manage assigned responsibilities in a manner that ensures effective utilization of personnel, project resources and complies with all project schedules, quality standards and budgetary requirements. Establish and communicate goals and objectives for the project and supervised personnel.

Manage assigned responsibilities and personnel in a manner that ensures positive client relations.

Initiate appropriate personnel actions, including requisitions, promotions, transfers, reprimands, leaves of absence, disciplinary actions, over time canvassing and other change actions.

Supervise assigned employees using policies, procedures, programs, LTO's and the CBA.

Maintain a workplace free from harassment, intimidation and other unlawful, inappropriate behaviors.

Coordinate the activities of supervised personnel and operations with those of other work units.

Ensure that proper tools, materials, supplies and equipment are available to perform assigned work.

Monitor the GSA fleet vehicles that are assigned to your group. Assure that they are properly maintained per instruction from the fleet manager.



Suspend any and all activities that may be considered unsafe, pose a risk to the environment, or be in violation of approved procedures

Control and manage activities and work in order to execute the responsibilities outlined in the Responsibilities section

Maintain facilities in accordance with applicable nuclear safety bases and other applicable regulatory requirements



Accountable to the group maintenance manager for executing the roles and responsibilities described above.

Accountabilities otherwise assigned by the group maintenance manager and as defined in approved FBP policies, programs and procedures.




Job Requirements

Requires an Associate’s Degree or higher in a related field and 7 years of craft experience, or an equivalent combination of education and craft experience is required.  High School Diploma/GED and years of Nuclear facility experience.  Full-time related academic training (e.g. degree programs, trade schools, vocational programs etc.) may be substituted on a one-for-one basis for 2 of the 3 years of nuclear experience.

Strong preference in Mechanical, Electrical and/or Instrumentation

Proficient interpersonal and communication skills

Proficient PC skills including Microsoft software

Proficient organization and problem solving skills

Maintenance background

Detail oriented and multi-tasking capabilities.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance.


Desired requirements

Ability to effectively represent the organization in the community and at inter-agency meetings.


Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.


Mathematics Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to wear respirator and other protective equipment to enter various types of potential hazardous areas (such as but not limited to chemical, dust fumes, mists, heat stress factors, etc.)


Ability to carry several instruments/equipment to tools while walking extensively.  Potential prolonged walking/standing, repeated pushing/pulling.


Ability to perform medium to very heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, non-repetitive, up to 50 pounds frequently (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 45 pounds requires usage of a two person “buddy systems”), and/or more than 20 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.


Potential for prolonged driving of or riding in a motor vehicle, machine operation, and/or working around moving equipment/machinery or motorized vehicles (such as but not limited to car, truck, golf cart, gator, heavy equipment).


May be required to operate company vehicle during the course of work.  All safety and DOT regulations and procedures must be adhered to at all times.

This work will be done in an environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated and/or abandoned facilities).  Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.


Environmental conditions may include weather or temperature extremes, in weather (such as but not limited to wind, rain, excessive heat, excessive cold, snow/ice, etc.)

Ability to work in a confined areas, tanks, heat stress conditions, high noise, and areas with radiation and chemical hazards.

In some cases radiological training may be required.
