We have an opening for a Senior Linux Administrator on the Argus Product Development team to support the Security and Protection (S&P) Program within the Security Organization (SO). The S&P Program is responsible for managing the evaluation, development, and operations support of the Argus security system. You will utilize a wide range of skills and competencies to lead the design and integration of IT technologies into the Argus product.

 

Job Description

Facilitate Argus development operations by maintaining, administering and troubleshooting Red Hat Linux servers and workstations on an isolated   network on a day-to-day basis.

Extend Argus system hardening through automated security scanning, patching, and reporting for Red Hat Linux servers and workstations

Support Argus development continuity by maintaining and extending disaster recovery solutions for Argus development, test, and production systems.

Maintain and extend Argus RHEL/CentOS virtual machine infrastructure to support development and testing

Interact with vendors to research, recommend, and secure products and services

Create and maintain systems documentation and procedural checklists understandable by users with less experience

Troubleshoot problems with networking between Linux and non-Linux platforms (including Windows, Windows Server, embedded systems and possibly OpenVMS)

 

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or the equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.

Advanced knowledge of shell scripting; ability to automate daily tasks when required; experience with bash or python.

Extensive experience with patch management and automation; understand how to apply security updates to systems on an isolated network.

Thorough knowledge of system scanning tools such as Nessus and OpenSCAP. Ability to compile & report results and formulate remediation plans with system impact analysis.

Comprehensive knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery; ability to configure and maintain disaster recovery solution for development, test systems and production systems.

Experience with creating and maintaining unattended operating system installation and configuration solutions.

Experience with virtualization technologies; ability to use VMWare or KVM to maintain and build systems from templates or scratch through automation.

Experience troubleshooting networking issues using command line tools such as firewalld, netstat, ss, lsof.

Exposure to or understanding of system hardening, remediation, and auditing.

Ability to set up various Linux hardware configurations from bare metal.

Ability to tune-to-purpose Linux desktops and servers for performance and stability.

Working knowledge of authentication functions and protocols such as LDAP, Kerberos, and Active Directory.

Ability and inclination to stay aware of computer hardware developments, sufficient to recommend changes and upgrades and install them.

Effective interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to interact with customers and team members.

Desired qualifications

Knowledge of networking (IP schemes, VLANS, routing, DNS, WINS, DHCP, IPSEC, etc.)

Experience managing a Kickstart server and creating kickstart configurations

Experience creating and managing isolated Yum server

Experience with Ansible, OpenStack or Puppet

Certifications: RHCSA/RHCE, or equivalent

CCNA or equivalent

Security Clearance: This position requires an active or re-instable Department of Energy (DOE) “L” or “Q”-level clearance.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  Applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
